Heather Davidson

Ed.M., M.A., LPC, CST, PMH-C

I received my Ed.M. & MA in counseling psychology from Columbia University in 2010. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Sex Therapist Supervisor. I am also an EMDR certified therapist through the EMDR International Association, and a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional with Postpartum Support International. I have additional training in couples therapy, sex therapy, infertility counseling and perinatal mental health.

I work with individuals and couples struggling with pelvic/sexual pain conditions, infertility, low sexual desire, trauma (including birth trauma, medical trauma, sexual trauma and critical incident trauma in first responders), anxiety and burnout syndrome. I tailor my approach based on my clients’ therapy goals and needs. I often utilize EMDR Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Psychodynamic Therapy.

I am the author of Effective Treatment of Women’s Pelvic and Sexual Pain Disorders: Healing the Body and the Mind During the #MeToo Era (Routledge, 2023), and the co-author of Master Conflict Therapy: A New Model for Practicing Couples & Sex Therapy (Routledge, 2018). I have also published articles in the American Counseling Association’s Counseling Today, and AASECT’s Contemporary Sexuality. I have been invited to speak both locally and nationally about integrating couples therapy and sex therapy, sexual and pelvic pain and sexual trauma.
